About the Conference

CSAM 2023 Presentation

The CSAM-SMCA 2025 Scientific Conference is Canada’s premier education and networking event for addiction medicine practitioners. This annual event brings together researchers, leaders, educators and clinicians in addiction medicine for three days of learning and networking. Our objective is to present new scientific research and best practices in addiction medicine, promote evidence-based care, and encourage the sharing of diverse perspectives on addiction treatment and recovery.

In 2025, the event will be held in-person from October 16-18, 2025 at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal. 

Conference Expectations
  • CSAM-SMCA seeks to provide a welcoming, engaging, and safe community for everyone.

Overall Conference Learning Objectives

To advance the education of health professionals in the field of addiction medicine by developing and providing courses and conferences, conducting research and establishing clinical standards.

To educate about the assessment, treatment, and prevention of addiction by collecting and disseminating relevant information.

At the end of this conference, participants will be able to:

  • Describe current challenges faced in the field of addiction medicine in Canada
  • List the latest discoveries in clinical practice and research in addition medicine
  • Integrate new best practice guidelines in addiction medicine into their clinical settings

About the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine

The Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine is a national society of addiction medicine practitioners committed to helping Canadians understand, accept, and recover from substance use disorders.

We work to educate the addiction medicine community, government leaders, and the public about the prevention, assessment, and treatment of substance use disorders in our communities. CSAM-SMCA is also involved in the process of establishing guidelines and standards.

CSAM-SMCA members form a strong, diverse community of Canadians who support and care for people with addictive disorders.
